Viewing sunsets over the ocean from your apartment at Ravina Street

Between approximately (depending on your apartment) early September and mid April, there are two periods when the sun sets directly over your ocean view.

As viewed from Ravina looking west toward the ocean, the sunset point becomes visible at the right, starting in early September. It moves each day to the left across the view, decelerating until reaching its leftmost (southernmost) point on the winter solstice, 22 December.

The leftmost sunset point is over one of the White Sands buildings, just to the left of the ocean. The sunset point then starts moving to the right again (moves north), accelerating and passing the last visible point from Ravina approximately 20 April, about a month after the vernal equinox (20 March).

The start/end times and separation between the two sunset-over-ocean periods depends on the ocean view from your apartment. For example, the start is later and ends earlier, and the separation lasts longer for lower floor apartments. Upper floor apartments have in effect no separation...for roughly 14 days centered around December 22 the sun sets over the White Sands building at the left edge, which is almost level with the ocean view (see photo).

Sunsets over the ocean are not visible from Ravina between 20 April and 22 August, i.e. during most of spring and summer. So get those sunset photos before mid-April!
