Optimized for cleaning

Contemporary design in the 2BR kitchen at Ravina La Jolla has an incidental benefit: easy cleaning

Easier and faster to clean...so you can spend more time enjoying life!

quartz countertops
* non-porous--no sealing required and more stain resistant vs. granite
* continuous surface, vs. debris and stain-catching grout lines of tile

undermount sink--no raised border vs. surface mount
* no border to accumulate grime and bacteria
* easier and faster to sweep water and debris into sink

single hole sink faucet with integrated pull-out spray
* fewer protrusions to clean around vs. three and four-hole faucets, cover plates that attract grime/bacteria
* pull-out spray makes it easier and faster to rinse sink sides, dishes
* spray hose mounts in faucet tube, well above sink. Sinktop spray hoses' mounting hole is much more likely to leak water into cabinet below

single basin sink
* less surface area and half the corners to clean vs. double basin sinks
* large enough to wash cookie sheets flat--less splashing of water on countertop and floor
* space for an optional dish-soaking tub, though not really necessary with dishwasher-equipped kitchen

minimized grease and soot accumulation:
* no gas flames (which generate soot): induction cooktop (cooking control of gas), electric oven
* powerful 600 cfm vent hood, vs. typical 160-300 cfm over-the-range microwave or undercabinet hoods
~~ ducted to outside vs. filtered and recirculated
~~ 8" diameter ducting--greater airflow vs. typical 7" and rectangular 3.25" x 10" (31% and 55% more cross sectional area)

separate cooktop and oven, integrated into countertop/base cabinet, vs. all-in-one range
* no kitchen drool (spills/grime) accumulating on hard-to-reach surfaces:
~~ left and right sides of range and base cabinet; ends of countertop on each side of range
~~ floor underneath range
* faster cleaning--sleek smooth design with no gaps to sides and back of cooktop
* no black hole (open sides and back of range) to accidentally drop items into, monsters to hide

induction cooktop
* surface stays much cooler vs. electric or gas, all but eliminating baked-on spills

Why waste an afternoon at the beach, when you could be home cleaning these grates/burners/coils/crevices/gaps/levers/knobs?

smooth surfaces--easier and faster to wipe clean vs. grooved and/or protruding-knob surfaces:
* cabinetry:
~~ flat faces, vs. grease-catching grooved/engraved/raised/recessed panels
~~ glossy thermofoil or glass face finishes, vs. rougher painted/lacquered/stained/antiqued wood
~~ full-face doors and drawerfronts vs. exposed face frames (single surface vs. non-coplanar multiple surfaces)
~~ hidden or face-edge mounted handles
~~ hidden Eurostyle hinges
* appliances:
~~ glass canopy vent hood
~~~~ glass has no grease-catching frame, vs. metal canopy rolled edges/crevices/corners
~~~~ any grease on underside of glass is easily visible for cleaning, vs. opaque metal canopy
~~~~ glass will not rust or corrode; stain resistant
~~ hidden oven bake element
~~ glass cooktop and glass panel oven, both with touchscreen controls, vs. grease-catching grates/burners/coils/crevices/gaps/levers/knobs
